A note to our valued store guests about the coronavirus

To our family of valued store guests,

Each day brings breaking news on the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and along with it, questions and concerns on what this global pandemic means to our families, friends, co-workers, customers and suppliers around the world.

As we navigate these uncertainties, our company has two top priorities: the well-being and safety of our family of associates, customers and communities; and supporting health officials and government leaders to contain the virus.

Over the  past several weeks, the SpartanNash Coronavirus Preparedness Task Force has been taking steps to minimize risk to our store guests and associates. Knowing the dynamic nature and rapidly changing impact of COVID-19, our efforts will continue to be agile and responsive to the latest updates from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention and in alignment with other federal, state and local experts.

With respect to the safety and wellbeing of our family of store guests and associates, we have always taken great pride in our high standards of store cleanliness and food safety. During this challenging time, we have instituted even greater cleaning and sanitation measures. In addition to our daily cleaning procedures, we’re sanitizing high-touch surfaces, such as food service counters, checkout lanes, conveyor belts, fuel pump handles, pin pads and touch screens at least every 30 minutes.  We have placed additional sanitary wipes and gels throughout our stores for store guests’ convenience. Also, we have suspended food sampling.

Our family of associates are also following the CDC’s guidelines and recommendations for prevention, and we will continue to share specific instructions on the importance of regular handwashing, covering coughs, avoiding shaking hands and staying home if they are sick or have been exposed to anyone posing a coronavirus-related risk.  Per CDC recommendations, we have also directed associates who have traveled to such locations or have been potentially exposed to the coronavirus in other ways to self-quarantine for 14 days.

As a store guest, we want you to know our preparedness plan includes working with suppliers, our distribution centers and our store operations teams to ensure that the food, medicine and cleaning supplies our customers need are reaching our stores as quickly as possible. That’s why we took the precautionary step on March 10 to limit the number of cold, flu and sanitary products per shopper, so everyone can have access to the items they need.

We know some of our store guests may have an increased interest in our Fast Lane services, which currently offers curbside pickup or home delivery in select locations. Our Fast Lane services are fully staffed, with extended hours of 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and ready to meet your needs. Fast Lane associates are employed by our company and follow the same preventive and sanitation measures noted above.

Our SpartanNash Coronavirus Preparedness Task Force continues to monitor this rapidly changing global health situation. SpartanNash and our family of retail stores are committed to building stronger communities, and we thank you for your continued trust and patience.
