Dan’s Supermarkets to Present Donation to Salvation Army
Over 9 pallets of food and 228 bags of groceries collected during “Pack the Pantry” Food Drive
Bismarck, N.D., Nov. 2, 2015 — Dan’s Supermarkets will present the Bismarck Salvation Army with over 9 pallets of food and 228 bags of groceries collected during its Oct. 7-20 “Pack the Pantry” food drive. The celebratory presentation will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015.
The presentation will be made at Dan’s Supermarket South, 835 S Washington Street, Bismarck, ND. Attending will be Major Tim Sell from the Salvation Army and the store directors from all six Dan’s Supermarkets (names and store locations listed below).
“We would love to have the community celebrate this donation with us, as it has truly been a collaborative, pay it forward event with our neighbors and associates,” notes Joe Murphy, District Manager. “We are committed to enhancing the communities we serve, and this is one example of how we live our corporate responsibility.”
Dan’s Supermarkets have partnered with the Salvation Army for many years. The Pack the Pantry drive helps fill Salvation Army’s shelves for needy families during the holiday season. During the drive, customers had the opportunity at Dan’s cash registers to purchase and donate either:
- A “bag” of groceries , or
- Individual grocery items

The Bismarck Salvation Army assists residents of the Bis-Man area with a wide range of basic needs services and offers a daily after-school program. Help is provided to anyone in need without discrimination. Fourteen percent of children in the Bismarck-Mandan region live in poverty, and more than 13,000 individuals in Burleigh County alone rely on food banks each year.
