Family Fare banner highlights $100,000 renovation, rebranding of Litchfield Econofoods

Commitment to local community remains the same, with new amenities including Fast Lane online grocery shopping now available

LITCHFIELD, Minn. – As part of its $100,000 investment in the Litchfield community, SpartanNash today celebrated the grand reopening of its newest Family Fare Supermarket, located at 951 E. Frontage Road.

The store, which previously operated under the Econofoods banner and underwent a $500,000 renovation in 2015, remains under SpartanNash ownership – with the same commitment to building and maintaining relationships in the local Litchfield community.

“The sign out front may be new, but you’ll still see the same smiling faces inside our rebranded Family Fare Supermarket,” said Chris Williamson, vice president of the Retail West Division for SpartanNash, which owns the Family Fare Supermarkets as well as 139 stores in eight states. “Our commitment to our customers will always be our top priority, and our store associates are excited to continue to serve them as they browse, discover and indulge – all within budget – in our newest Family Fare.”

The rebrand is part of SpartanNash’s overall investment in its Minnesota stores and local communities. In September, the Red Wing and Northfield Family Fare Supermarkets celebrated their grand reopenings, with SpartanNash investing $3.5 million into renovations and rebranding efforts to better serve store guests with an expanded product offering, including additional local items, selection, quality and freshness throughout the store.

In total, SpartanNash operates 86 Family Fare stores in six states.

To celebrate its grand reopening, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held today at the Litchfield Family Fare. During the ceremony, a pallet of food was donated to the Meeker Area Food Shelf, in addition to donations to local fire and police departments.

As a part of the rebrand to Family Fare, new signs and décor were installed, updating both the interior and exterior of the store. The store also features a new Welcome Center, where store guests can grab a cup of coffee or snack on fresh-made popcorn as they shop.

“We’re excited to welcome Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy customers to our Family Fare pharmacy as part of our grand reopening as well,” Williamson said. “You’ll also see some familiar faces in the pharmacy, as we’ve grown our family of associates with pharmacists and technicians from Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy now providing excellent customer service within our store.”

Other highlights of the store’s transformation include:

  • Fast Lane, the click-and-collect program that provides a seamless online grocery shopping experience and added quality and convenience for busy families.
  • yes loyalty rewards, which brings everyday savings, exclusive digital coupons, free and low-cost prescriptions and a more personalized shopping experience.
  • A continued emphasis on local, organic, gluten-free and on-trend products in every aisle.
  • Our Family®, Open Acres™ and other SpartanNash private brands to provide additional savings and selection throughout the store.
  • Installation of a flag pole, with the American flag and Honor and Remember flag on display. SpartanNash is a proud national partner of Honor and Remember, a nonprofit service organization that honors American servicemen and women who paid the ultimate price while serving their country.
  • Corporate responsibility messaging throughout the store, highlighting SpartanNash’s commitments to reducing its carbon footprint, recycling, supporting the local community and more.

Orders placed at shopthefastlane.com are shopped by Fast Lane personal shoppers – who are also SpartanNash associates – who focus on selecting quality items from each aisle of the store. Store guests can also include notes for Fast Lane shoppers to follow, allowing them to make special requests like green bananas, near-ripe avocados and thick-sliced ham from the deli.

Store guests with yes loyalty accounts will automatically have their preferences loaded into their Fast Lane account, making it even easier to clip digital coupons, select commonly purchased items or sort by department, sale items or dietary restrictions when placing an order.

Annual and monthly Fast Lane memberships are also available at shopthefastlane.com to provide Fast Lane shoppers with additional savings.

“Our new and improved Litchfield Family Fare includes some exciting ways to better serve our store guests – while still delivering the easy-to-navigate store, weekly ad specials and budget-friendly savings our customers expect,” Williamson said. “We want to deliver a best-in-class experience with every trip to the grocery store, while providing unique offerings, local products and everyday values you can’t find anywhere else.”

The new Family Fare store previously underwent a $500,000 renovation in 2015, including energy-saving lighting and equipment to brighten up the shopping experience and reduce energy consumption.
