Family Fare Partners with GVSU to Honor Student and Faculty Veterans
Sponsor of Student Veterans’ Breakfast and Special Veterans’ Section at Home Game
Grand Rapids, Mich., October 13, 2015 — Family Fare is partnering with Grand Valley State University (GVSU) to honor student and faculty veterans for the second annual Celebration of Service.
Family Fare will provide breakfast for student and faculty veterans at the annual Student Veterans’ Breakfast in GVSU’s Fieldhouse Arena on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 8:00 to 9:00 am. Special guests will include GVSU President Thomas Haas (former USCG Captain) and Louie the Laker.
Family Fare is also sponsoring a veterans’ section at the GVSU home football game against Michigan Tech on Saturday, Oct. 17. The Celebration of Service event honors current servicemen and women, veterans, first responders and their families. Seventy local veterans, including 20 from the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, will attend the game compliments of Family Fare.
“Family Fare has been a wonderful partner with our veteran initiatives at GVSU,” said Doug Lipinski, Associate Director of Athletics for Marketing. “The university has over 500 student veterans, and Family Fare’s support of our GVSU Student Veterans’ Breakfast has been a great way for us to say thank you. The ability to bring our local veterans to our football game is because of Family Fare’s community involvement. We are proud to partner with Family Fare for this week’s veterans’ salute activities.”
“Family Fare and its parent company, SpartanNash, are committed to caring for those who defend our freedoms and protect our families,” said Meredith Gremel, SpartanNash VP, Corporate Affairs & Communications. “It is an honor to partner with Grand Valley State University for the annual Celebration of Service to support our veterans and active military.”
