Family Fare Supports Father Fred Food Drive
SpartanNash Corporate and Independent Stores Collecting Donations for Food Pantry
Grand Rapids, Mich., October 1, 2015 — One in four local families in Traverse City, Mich., face food insecurity concerns. The Father Fred Foundation, which is locally founded, funded, and focused, helps families in crisis with food, clothing and financial assistance.
SpartanNash is partnering with The Father Fred Foundation this fall to collect donations to support their food pantry. In an average week, the food pantry is open 21 hours with over 100 volunteers serving 280 families. It costs approximately $15,940 to fill the food pantry each week. The Father Fred Foundation does not accept state or federal funding, and 91-cents of every dollar donated goes directly to assist those who walk through their doors.
