Rockford Family Fare and United Bank Cereal and Milk Challenge
Cereal and milk to be presented to the North Kent Community Services
Rockford, MI, Jan. 12, 2015 — Rockford Family Fare and United Bank joined forces to help stock the North Kent Community Services food pantry over the holiday season – and they challenged the Rockford/North Kent Country area to join them. Boxes of cereal were dropped off at either the United Bank branch located at 155 Marcell Drive in Rockford or at the Family Fare located at 201 Marcell. For every box of cereal donated, Family Fare and United Bank matched up to 200 boxes. Customers also had the opportunity to donate a gallon of milk, along with cereal, and Family Fare matched gallons of milk.
On January 14, 2016 at 9:30am, a presentation to North Kent Community Services will take place at the Family Fare located at 201 Marcell where they will receive 640 boxes of cereal, along with 300 gallons of milk. A big thank you goes out to the Rockford community in helping those in need.
The program ran from December 2, 2015 through December 12, 2015.
“Family Fare has partnered with North Kent Community Services for years and we appreciate all they do for the community. Now many food challenged families will enjoy a healthy breakfast thanks to these collaborative efforts,” said Meredith Gremel, Vice President, Corporate Affairs & Communications, SpartanNash. “Family Fare and its parent company, SpartanNash, are committed to enhancing the communities where we live and work, and this is a fine example of how we work together to fight hunger.”
The North Kent Community Services serves the Kent County area north of 5 Mile (Rockford, Cedar, Kent City, Belmont). Last year, NKCS helped over 5,800 households. According to Claire Guisfredi, Executive Director, “We are thrilled to collaborate with SpartanNash to provide the essentials like milk and cereal to the families that come to North Kent Community Services. Many people come here for food because of a crisis, such as job loss, divorce, high medical bills or high propane bills. Working with businesses like SpartanNash enables us to continue helping people during this difficult time in their lives.”
