SpartanNash VPs Takes Lead
The SpartanNash executive team at the Minneapolis Service Center will join forces to challenge associates to “Stuff the Truck” in honor of Earth Week. Seven executives will provide manual labor stuffing the truck for SpartanNash associates making donations on: Monday, April 20, 2015 from 10 – 11am at SpartanNash Minneapolis Service Center 7600 France Ave. South, Minneapolis, MN.
This is the second companywide Earth Week initiative since Grand Rapids-based Spartan Stores merged with Minneapolis-based Nash Finch on November 19, 2013. Last year, SpartanNash partnered with Goodwill organizations from Minnesota, Michigan, and Virginia on donation drives involving SpartanNash’s Minneapolis Service Center, Grand Rapids Service Center and distribution center, MDV Norfolk distribution center, and 6 retail sites in West Michigan. This year calls for additional collaboration with Goodwill organizations from Georgia, Oklahoma, Nebraska, North Carolina, Indiana, and Ohio for donation drives at 10 distribution centers across the county including one located in St. Cloud, Minnesota, 25 corporate owned retail stores in Michigan, and both service centers. SpartanNash is challenging its associates and customers to do some spring cleaning and donate their clothing, electronics, and household items to Goodwill Industries, thereby reducing landfill waste, promoting reuse of products, and creating jobs through Goodwill’s Back to Work Programs.
Michael Wirth-Davis, President and CEO of Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota, states: “We are excited to partner with SpartanNash again for this series of Earth Week events. With more than 16,000 associates, SpartanNash will be a tremendous partner in helping collect items for reuse. They will also share our message throughout the country to encourage year-round donations. Donated items sold in Goodwill stores support local programs that prepare people for work.”
SpartanNash Earth Week events kick off in St. Cloud on April 17th and in Edina at the service center on April 20th.
Goodwill staff will support the donation drives and provide tax deductible receipts. Additional fun and educational Earth Week activities are planned companywide at SpartanNash to celebrate the importance of sustainability, including:
