Donation Celebrates Marketplace Foods’ 75th Anniversary

Grand Rapids, MI, June 16, 2015 — The SpartanNash Minot Distribution Center will be donating $2,500 to Souris Valley United Way to celebrate Marketplace Foods’ 75th anniversary. The donation will be presented on Thursday, June 18, at 11:00 a.m. CT, at the Marketplace Foods on 1930 South Broadway Street, Minot, ND 38701.

Marketplace Foods is part of Johanneson’s Inc., which has over 1,000 employees and owns and operates more than 20 retail stores in North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin under the entities Johanneson’s Inc. and Johanneson’s of North Dakota. They celebrated their diamond anniversary on Tuesday, June 3.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Souris Valley United Way will be Patricia Smith, Executive Director.

“We appreciate the gift and our partnership with Marketplace Foods,” said Smith. “Together we can do great things, like this past week when we worked together on our ‘Community Shower’ to get donations for personal care items to help our seniors in need. Souris Valley United Way now partners with 21 agencies on 27 programs in an effort to advance education, financial stability, and health, while addressing basic human needs.”

Store director Craig Heupel, Sales Manager Austin Boehler, and Joe Hermes, Vice President South & Heartland, will also be present for the donation.

“Marketplace Foods is integral to the Minot community,” said Hermes. “It is gratifying for us to present this donation in honor of their 75th anniversary.”
